Dedee Shattuck Gallery
At the Shattuck, we serve contemporary artists and craftsmen as well as the local and global art communities by providing compelling exhibitions, enriching cultural events, and a forum for the exchange of creative thought and critical discussion about the arts.
We uniquely emphasize the relation between contemporary art and the environment by remaining eco-conscious, featuring outdoor sculpture, exhibiting work in a space whose architecture is congruent with the landscape, and offering a sustainable artist residency program.
Residency Location
Westport, Massachusetts
Dedee Shattuck Gallery, a contemporary art gallery situated among acres of meadows and forests, embodies Owner Dedee Shattuck's lifelong appreciation of art and the environment. The Gallery, designed by Shattuck is inspired by Westport's historic Quaker architecture.
Facilities & Services
Studio: Off-the-grid, naturally lit studio with outdoor natural rain water shower, wood burning stove, and composting toilet.
Computer/internet access: Internet connection provided via wireless Internet.
Residency Length: 3 months June -August 2015
Residency is permitted as studio space ONLY.
Living accommodations are the responsibility of the artist.
GUIDELINES
• The applicant must hold a bachelors degree.
• The applicant must be 25 years old by December 31, 2014.
• The applicant should be a practicing artist seeking time to reflect upon and develop their work.
• The applicant must be focused and self-directed.
• The successful applicant will provide the following activities during the residency: one ‘open studio’ session for the community
• The successful applicant must come during the specified time.

1. A brief audio or video proposal (maximum 5 minutes) and ten high resolution (300dpi) images of your best work in jpg format on a CD. Please include an image list stating title, medium, size and date completed. Please format the image filename to include the artists last name and title of the work (ex. Pollock_EnchantedForest.jpg)
2. A brief artist statement, or description of the body of work you are submitting, between one paragraph and one page
3. A current CV
4. Bio
5. Two Letter of Reference
6. Residency proposal letter stating intended course of exploration during the residency.
