Join us for a very special afternoon as we recognize Dartmouth High School scholarship recipient Olivia Martins.

Martins graduated as a part of the National Honors Society at Dartmouth High School. She participated in Advanced Placement art classes and will be attending Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Fall 2013.

Artist's Statement: As an artist, I enjoy working with texture, color and shape. It is exciting how each can change the feeling of a piece. Having always lived in a woodsy area, many of my pieces deal with different viewpoints of objects within nature. They often focus on vast spatial and textural differences with an emphasis on contrasting color. It is my goal to let the viewer lose him/herself in the spaces that I create.

The Dedee Shattuck Gallery Art Prize includes $250 to Riverside Arts, $250 applied to the recipient's college tuition generously contributed by Paul and Karen Snyder, along with a three day exhibition.

The application was extended to Dartmouth High School, Durfee High School, New Bedford High School, Old Rochester Regional High School, Tiverton High School, and Portsmouth High School.

We will honor Olivia with an artist's reception for her work on Saturday July 9 at 3pm.

At the same time, the artist of our current exhibit, John Borowicz, will give a walk-through and talk regarding his work. It is a great opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the creative process. Refreshments will be served.
